In 2025 your Club will be introducing a new “Grand Prix Leaderboard” system which recognises and scores the performance of players in all tournaments over the year, with prizes for winners in several categories. See below (or scroll down) for more information about the leaderboard.
OVER 1300 Leaderboard
JUNIOR Leaderboard
UNDER 1300 Leaderboard
UNRATED Leaderboard
What is the Leaderboard?
The Leaderboard will give all participating players points for their performance in all tournaments, accumulating over the year. Points will be awarded for wins, draws and for participating in all scheduled tournaments.
The Leaderboard will be separate to the usual recognition (trophy inscription) for the winners of individual tournaments held over the year.
What is the Scoring System?
Points will be awarded for all completed games, on this basis –
WIN | DRAW | PARTICIPATING | |
Classical Games | 27 | 18 | 9 |
Rapid Games | 9 | 6 | 3 |
Lightning Games | 3 | 2 | 1 |
What are the Leaderboard Categories?
The four categories will be Over 1300 ACF Rating, Under 1300 ACF Rating, Unrated, and Junior (under 18). Players will be assigned to these categories based on their age and rating on the first tournament night of 2025 (16 January). Juniors will always be assigned to the Junior category, with all remaining players assigned to the one of the other three categories.
What are the Prizes?
Gift Vouchers from Australian Chess Enterprises will be presented at the end of the year, when the Category winners are known.
Why are there points for “Participating”?
Participation points acknowledge that the regular attendance of all players contributes to the ongoing health of the Club and is thereby worthy of recognition.
What about byes?
As participation is a key feature of the Leaderboard –
